This complete split AC installation tool kit contains the essential equipment needed to install and service domestic split air conditioning systems. It includes a vacuum pump, AC double gauge manifold, charging hoses, service connectors and refrigerant cylinder adaptors.

The kit is suitable for domestic split air conditioning installation and maintenance work involving a range of common refrigerants, including R410A, R134a, R1234yf, R32, R600a and R290.

It is suitable for systems using A2L and A3 class refrigerants when the correct compatible hoses, adaptors and working procedures are used. Always check the requirements of the air conditioning system and refrigerant before starting work.

Why a vacuum pump is needed for split AC installation

When a new split air conditioning system is installed, air and moisture can remain inside the pipework and indoor unit. These contaminants must be removed before the system is opened and charged with refrigerant.

The vacuum pump evacuates the pipework by removing air, non-condensable gases and moisture. This helps the system operate correctly and helps protect the compressor from poor performance, excessive pressure and moisture-related damage.

A vacuum should normally be pulled after connecting and pressure-testing the pipework. The required evacuation time depends on the installation, pipe length, moisture level and the performance of the vacuum pump. Do not rely only on a fixed time period. Use the manufacturer’s instructions and, where possible, confirm the vacuum with a suitable micron gauge.

Vacuum pump

The included HVAC vacuum pump operates with a low noise level and has a flow rate of 51 L/min (1.8 CFM).

This pump is supplied with a solenoid valve and vacuum gauge. 

How the solenoid valve helps

The electromagnetic valve closes the connection between the pump and the AC system when the pump is switched off. This helps isolate the system while you monitor whether the vacuum is holding.

If the vacuum begins to rise, this may indicate a leak, remaining moisture or a connection problem. A vacuum gauge can provide a basic holding check, but a proper pressure leak test and a micron gauge should be used where required.

AC double gauge manifold kit

BOC refrigerant cylinder adaptors

The BOC adaptors allow the charging hoses to be connected to different BOC refrigerant cylinders. The correct adaptor must be selected according to the refrigerant and cylinder valve thread used for your application.

• Large BOC bottle adaptor: for BOC cylinders with an RH 5/16-inch cylinder outlet thread.
• A2L BOC bottle adaptor: for BOC cylinders with an LH 5/16-inch cylinder outlet thread, commonly used with certain A2L refrigerants.

Choose the correct BOC adaptor before ordering. The adaptor is selected according to the refrigerant cylinder you need to connect to, not simply according to the air conditioning system.

The kit’s can piercing valves have a 1/4-inch flare male output so they can be connected to the charging hoses. Four different types of piercing valve are available for opening compatible refrigerant canisters.

The silver canister opener is a universal-style design that can be clamped onto the neck of many refrigerant canisters. However, we cannot guarantee that it will fit every type of canister.
